Jeanne Chesterton

An award winning Bucks County artist, Jeanne is known for her realistic still life paintings.  She has exhibited her work in over 200 shows, and her paintings can be found in Exhibit B Gallery in Souderton, PA, as well as the permanent collections of the Trenton City Museum,  the Doylestown Hospital and many private collections.  Jeanne began her painting career under the guidance of James Feehan, a prominent Bucks County artist.  As a docent at the James A. Michener Museum in Doylestown, the artist continues to develop her art appreciation and experience.

Jeanne’s favorite subjects are common, ordinary objects which show the beauty marks of age and wear.  Tarnished metal ware, mellowed ceramics, worn surfaces and damaged edges invite her to explore the nuances of their lights and shadows.  For Jeanne, composition is important.  She strives to create visual harmony and rhythm by way of color, line, shape and pattern.  The design should excite the viewer aw well as the subject matter.  Jeanne is proud to say that her subject matter and style have been influenced by the extraordinary still life paintings of artists painting in the classic tradition.

Jeanne is a member of Artsbridge, New Hope Art League, Artists of Yardley, The Arts and Cultural Council of Bucks County, and the LeHigh Valley Arts Council
