silverpoint drawing and mixed media
“Silverpoint Drawing and the Subtle Beauty of Decay” This is the title of my most recent portfolio. It is a body of work combining my life-long habit of collecting natural objects with an enduring interest in silverpoint and mixed media. In these drawings I attempt to give the found relics a second purpose by creating quirky still-life portraits with whimsical story lines, while remaining true to their intriguing properties of decomposition. The slowly tarnishing silver contributes to this illusion, as do the freely torn collaged papers used in the compositions that are then completed using delicate traces of watercolor and pastel.
After attending Tyler School of Art, I became the original cover illustrator for the Montgomery County Town and Country Living Magazine and co-founded the Montgomery County Guild of Professional Artists. My work is featured in gallery and museum shows and numerous collections. I have been commissioned for many portraits and have won awards in regional, national and international shows including the Gold and Silver Medals at the Audubon Artist Inc. show in NYC.
I reside just outside of Philadelphia with my artist husband Jim, a few chickens and too many gardens.
